Teamwork brings Caribou Thursdays on Sweden

CARIBOU, Maine — A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to bring the community of Caribou an evening of family fun every other week throughout the summer. Thursdays on Sweden wouldn’t be the success it is without the hard work of many men and women, city employees and members of the public.

Increased funding clears way for MSSM expansion

 Enrollment nearing capacity at 168 

LIMESTONE, Maine — The Maine School of Science and Mathematics recently received approval for the total $3.55 million budget request from the Maine Legislature. That’s $800,000 more than last year and the school is also in line to get an additional  $200,000 the following year.

Family and friends are invited afterward to gather for refreshments and to celebrate Pat’s life from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, Presque Isle.

McCartney publishes two articles, reaches publication milestone

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Kevin McCartney, professor of geology at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and resident of Caribou, has had two scientific articles published in international journals this spring. These publications represent his 50th and 51st major articles with international distribution and include co-authors from Poland, Russia and Japan.
