Caribou dominates rec singles tennis tourney

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Nineteen players from the Caribou and Presque Isle recreation departments competed in the July 21 Northern Maine Community Recreation Association singles tennis tournament held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Federal grant boosts local fire department

     The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that four Maine fire departments, including two in Aroostook County, have been earmarked to receive federal grant funds.

Wardens honored at annual ceremony

 

Two Maine game wardens who’ve served with the regional office in Ashland were among those honored at the 135th anniversary and annual awards ceremony, held in Rockport earlier this year.

NMCC Dean’s List students named

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — NMCC has released its Dean’s List for the 2015 spring semester. One hundred and forty full-time students achieved a 3.20 average or better; 48 of these students were named to high honors with a GPA of 3.85 or better. Twenty-nine students had the distinction of earning a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Area churches announce Day of Hope event

Pastor Dan Holmes, City Reach Church/Assembly of God, Presque Isle, in coordination with the National Convoy of Hope organization, has announced a “Day of Hope” event to be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Presque Isle Forum.

Grand jury hands down 29 indictments

The Aroostook County Grand Jury completed its sixth session of 2015 on July 10 and handed down 29 indictments against 28 individuals without any “no bills.”
