Tracing our Canadian roots

I have found no Canadian ancestry in my own genealogy, so it sometimes amazes me how many people around here have French/Canadian ancestors, my husband included. Even without that ancestry, though, if you have not been able to trace the course of your family’s emigration to America you should consider they might have first landed in Canada.

     Sometimes weather events conspire in such a way that everything that could lead to a worst-case scenario just clicks into place, and when it happens, it’s horrific. U.S. weather history is full of worst-case scenarios.

Proud to be Franco-American

To the editor:

     I was deeply offended by the recent remarks of Gov. Paul LePage. When discussing the issue of vetoing bills in the Maine Legislature, the governor said that even he understood the Maine Constitution despite the fact that he is French.
