CARIBOU, Maine — About 100 people are expected to raise $10,000 to support research, programs and services for people living with multiple sclerosis at the annual Walk MS: Caribou, slated for Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015.
Most genealogists know they should talk to their older relations to find out what they remember of the family history. I would add you should also talk to any surviving friends or neighbors as well. Sadly, each year we lose more of our senior family members and their friends and with them memories and knowledge of the family story. In addition, the fog of age can sometimes steal these priceless memories from us.
One of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written is “Angie” by the Rolling Stones. I listened to that very song this morning as I traveled to work. I couldn’t help but wonder if I will be listening to that song when my wardrobe consists of flowery nighties, pajamas, and crocheted booties. Will I still love listening to Jagger’s broken, tearful voice spilling his love at Angie’s feet? Will I still close my eyes and slip into the lyrics, imagining myself the object of this pensive, enduring love? I hope so.

It has been a wild and busy summer for Halfway Home Pet Rescue. Because of the huge number of sick, injured, surrendered and abandoned cats that came to us this summer, we actually ran out of food for the first time in early August. A cry of “help” went out through the various media outlets and we received all that we needed to get through the time of food shortage.
