Maine regulators nix Emera’s bid for new Aroostook County power line

By Darren Fishell BDN Staff      PORTLAND — State utility regulators rejected Emera Maine’s request to build a $15.4 million power line from Monticello to New Brunswick last week, arguing there are other less costly ways to address the northern Maine power grid’s needs.

AIM donation to fund five children’s wishes

     PORTLAND — Make-A-Wish Maine has announced that AIM Recycling, with locations in Caribou and Bangor, is its top new donor business in 2015. The company’s total donation exceeded $30,000 and will grant wishes for five Maine children.

Sign-up underway for disposal of banned, unusable pesticides

     AUGUSTA — This fall, the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s (DACF) Board of Pesticides Control (BPC) will team up with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to help Mainers dispose of banned pesticides or unusable pesticides.
