Brewfest coming in October
MARS HILL, Maine — Four Aroostook County entities will unite to host a one-of-a-kind beer and wine tasting festival Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at Bigrock Mountain in Mars Hill.

If you have Medicare, or if you are a family caregiver of someone who relies on Medicare for their primary health insurance, you need to understand some important rights. Staff at the Aroostook Agency on Aging are seeing an increase in complaints from people recently hospitalized and their dissatisfaction, in some cases, could have been prevented had they understood their rights.

As a recovering addict I am currently behind barbed wire fencing that keeps me safe from drugs. After two long years of battling a meth addiction, with one attempt at rehab, and a few incarcerations at county jail, I am now free from the monster that calls my name. I’d like to inform my hometown and county about the constant bully I encountered for the first time in May of 2014.

There have been some vocal suggestions and background whispers that the commotion surrounding the secession of Lyndon has caused the city of Caribou to become unattractive to new business and residents who otherwise might have relocated to Caribou. This is a diversion to obscure the reality of the serious decline that has fallen upon our city.

The McCain Top 10 Potato Growers were recognized at the annual McCain Grower Barbecue at the Aroostook County Shrine Club in Presque Isle Aug. 28. Flewelling Farms of Presque Isle was named Champion Grower. Almost 300 guests gathered to celebrate the top growers and their achievements. Champion grower selection is based on the highest standing quality of the following three delivery categories: field direct delivery, winter storage delivery and refrigerated storage.
