Honoring our veterans

     On Oct. 31, 2015, the Navy’s newest destroyer, the USS Rafael Peralta, was christened at Bath Iron Works.  The story of the namesake of the United States Navy’s newest Maine-built destroyer would be inspiring at any time.  On Veterans Day, it is an especially powerful reminder of the qualities that unite all who have served our country throughout our history.

UMPI club collaborates with world health group

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Bio-Med Club, through its partnership with the Maine-based non-profit organization Partners for World Health (PWH), is working at the local level to make a global impact. The Bio-Med Club has asked local medical facilities for donations of medical supplies that the club will transfer to PWH so the organization can distribute them to developing countries.

Aroostook County grand jury indicts 51

     The Aroostook County grand jury, which completed its 10th session on Nov. 5, has handed down indictments against 51 individuals, according to Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins, who released the list Monday.
