1990: Santa flying in to Caribou

115 Years Ago – Nov. 21,  1900

    Horses down — There’s been quite a number of horses that have gone down near the corner of Main and Water street, due to increasingly slippery roads. Most of the accidents haven’t been too severe until W.T .Barton’s heavy team from Perham, comprising four horses and a heavy wagon with a load of lumber, came along. The team nearly crashed into the plate glass windows of S.L. White’s drug store, but fortunately, the wheels struck rough ground and the wagon was bottom side up when it reached the store. No horses were hurt and the driver escaped with bruises.
