Heater cars — There has been a scarcity recently of potato heater cars as reported by potato shippers.

That’s a lotta hay — Recently, Caribou’s own Newman Doyle cut 230 tons of hay last season and that amount of hay is the product of one farm. It is “certainly worthy of notice.”

Life Lessons: Sometimes we need a little sparkle

The first thing I noticed was that her red fleece holiday pants were missing a few jingle bells. The second thing I noticed was the frown she wore just below her nearly ragged, bright purple Santa hat. She leaned at a 45-degree angle against her shopping cart; which I might add was overflowing with electronic devices. Two or three slow cookers, a small Shark floor cleaner, a food dehydrator, two electric mixers, and a battery-operated, fur-covered neck massager.

Protecting Mainers from scams

To the editor:

     On Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, Judy Shaw, Maine Office of Securities Administrator, and David Leach, Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection Examiner, participated in a live AARP Maine-sponsored tele-town hall. The spotlight was on scams, identity theft and fraud — crimes that result in Americans losing billions of dollars every year. Nine thousand AARP members from across the state joined the tele-town hall and both Ms. Shaw and Mr. Leach answered many of their questions live during the call.
