Maine artist shows work at Reed Gallery

Fluxus artist to speak at First Friday reception

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine —The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will host the exhibit “By the Numbers: Multiplicity, Meaning and Art” by Dr. Owen F. Smith, Correll professor of new media at the University of Maine, from Tuesday, Jan. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

     CARIBOU — Jeffrey Sixmith Frost, 72, passed away January 7, 2016 at Fort Kent following a long illness. His wife of 33 years, Dawn Carde Frost was with him as he left his physical body, holding him in her arms.

     CARIBOU — Jacquelyn L. Beaupre, 86, passed away January 8, 2016, at Caribou. She was born in Limestone, August 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Griffeth) Leavitt. Jackie was the last of ten children.

Troop F Report

    The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 124 calls for service throughout Aroostook County for the week of Jan. 3-10. Troopers completed nine school visits/checks during the week and had one speaking engagement.

Viking matmen win five medals in Dexter

     The Caribou Vikings took to the mat again Saturday for a tournament held in Dexter. Coach Chico Hernandez’s squad ended up with five medals on the day, with Dustin DeMerchant and Jarred Jordan each placing second — DeMerchant in the 195 lb. division and Jordan in 285 — with Cory Jandreau in 132 and Izaiah Thayer in 220 each earning bronze medals and Carter Conley in 182 in fourth.
