MSSM team joins Science Bowl

     A team of students from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics will compete with nine other teams from around the state this Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham to determine which team will attend the high school national finals of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science’s National Science Bowl (NSB).

Shead girls eliminate 5-time champs Washburn

     BANGOR, Maine — The Shead High School girls basketball team avenged a 52-point preliminary round loss to Washburn two years ago in dramatic fashion when Holly Preston’s layup off a Cierra Seeley pass with 8.6 seconds remaining beat Washburn 38-35 in a Class D North semifinal Thursday at the Cross Insurance Center.
