Caribou hospital to screen Vietnam War documentary

Cary Medical Center is continuing its recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War with the showing of a documentary film, “In the Shadow of the Blade” on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, Vietnam Veterans Day, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chan Center at the hospital.

     AUGUSTA, Maine — Governor Paul R. LePage has announced judicial nominations of three lawyers to serve as judges in Maine Superior and District Courts and three active retired judges for the Maine Superior and District Courts.

Two join NMCC board

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College has announced that Ryan Bushey and Fred Grant, both of Houlton, have been elected to the NMCC Foundation board.

     The foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise and distribute funds to help NMCC meet its commitment to provide superior educational opportunities. Much of the funding is in the form of scholarships; the foundation also supports programming equipment needs and the expansion of college facilities.

VFW Auxiliary awards poetry winners

     CARIBOU, Maine — Seventy fifth-graders at Teague Park Elementary School recently took part in the “What America Means to Me” poetry contest, sponsored by the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW Auxiliary. An awards ceremony was held March 10, 2016 at the school.
