Trash to Fashion

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Studio 923 Art Club will host its first Trash to Fashion Show on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Wieden Auditorium.

The event will feature fashion design by students and community members in a runway show. All creations are made exclusively from recycled materials. Studio 923 is hosting this unique fashion show in order to raise awareness about the importance of recycling.

Summit to detail tourism goals

LITTLETON, Maine — Aroostook County Tourism (ACT) will host a tourism summit Friday, May 20, 2016, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton. 

The event offers an opportunity to network with other leaders in the tourism industry in Aroostook County.

In the face of an urgent need for volunteer drivers locally, three organizations have joined together in a recruitment effort.

Loring Star Student named

LIMESTONE, Maine — The Loring Job Corps Center recently announced Jeff Gireaudore as the Star Student of the Quarter. 

Gireaudore came from New York City in October, and since his arrival has proven he is goal-oriented with a desire to better himself and everyone around him. Center officials said as a leader and mentor, he can be counted on to get the job done with a positive attitude.
