1991: Cutbacks force DHS office to move to Caribou from PI

April 24, 1901

     First ball — The first ballgame of the season in Caribou will occur next Saturday afternoon between the Caribou and Fort Fairfield high school nines.

     Maple sugar galore — Frank Theriault has been making about 2,500 pounds of maple sugar and syrup at his camp and expects to have a good portion of that done at the latter part of this week.

     Analytics are big these days in business, sports and politics. When it comes to auto care, the numbers tell a very revealing story as 80 percent of vehicles inspected at community car care events last year required service, a new part and/or repair.

Trying to agree to disagree

To the editor:

     Monty Python once addressed the nature of arguments, an assessment which I feel is much needed in our generation. After paying to have an argument and finding the correct room, Michael Palin’s character walks into a room where John Cleese greets him. They begin bickering, John simply contradicting everything Michael says. Michael finally breaks down and says, “This isn’t an argument. You’re just contradicting me — an argument is a series of connected statements to establish a definite proposition.”
