VA Clinic larger and remodeled — On June 13, 1987, County veterans got a little more back for their service to their country when the Aroostook County Veterans Administration Clinic opened its doors at the Cary Medical Center.

Vital statistics — Mrs. H. R. Hall, deputy town clerk, who has charge of the vital statistics, reports that from March 1,1923, to March 1, 1924, there were in the town of Caribou: 83 marriages, 235 births and 114 deaths.

Caribou included in the World’s Fair — Caribou will be one of the Maine towns which will have an exhibit as the World’s Fair at St. Louis this year. W. E. Crockett of the Caribou Woolen Mill is getting ready a display of yarns which he will send to this exposition.

New store — The new furniture store in Stockholm, which was recently opened by G. M . Morgan & Co. of this town, is in charge of Ralph Morgan.

Caribou company makes what others in the state don’t — BMW Manufacturing Co. in Caribou is the only company in Maine who takes flat pie

Bird’s eye manager awarded cup — Estle Gallop, manager of the Houlton branch of the Bird’s eye Snider division of General Goods Corporation and Joseph D. Nevin, manager of the Caribou branch, were awarded cups at a company banquet in Houlton Friday emblematic of the safety record of their two plants during the past season.

Processed potato’s success in Caribou — A local company is opening a new market for processed potatoes nationwide from Caribou. ‘Fresh From the Start’ potato products were developed by Andy Ayer of Maine Packers and Andy Pollak of Hapco Inc. of New York.
75 Years Ago – Jan. 20, 1949
Celebrates birthday — The last remaining survivor of the original settlers of New Sweden, Mrs. Agnes Clase Anderson, today celebrated her 83 birthday at her farm home in that community.

Outstanding Leadership award — George Benson, the career counselor at Caribou Adult Education, was awarded the outstanding leadership award from the Aroostook Literacy Coalition.
