Looking to fill positions — The United States Civil Service Commission has announced an examination to be held at Caribou, Maine, on June 14, 1924, to fill the position of rural carrier at New Sweden and vacancies that may later occur on rural routes from that post office.

Lowell has an automobile — E. L. Lowell of the Mars Hill View is the second newspaper man in the county to have an automobile. Bro. Fogg of the Houlton Times being the first. Mr. Lowell now rides about the county in a Ford runabout.It is wrong and naughty to envy the good fortune of others, and so we don’t; but we cannot help wishing we had an automobile.

Levesque wins secretaries honor — Sandi Levesque of the Holy Rosary Rectory in Caribou was given the best secretary award in appreciation of Professional Secretaries Day on Wednesday, April 21. She was given a bouquet of roses and a balloon from Phil’s Florist.

Plan outdoor theater to open this summer on the Presque Isle road — Eight acres of land on the Ralph Hitchings farm, Presque Isle road, Caribou have been purchased by Gordon Wilcox, Washburn, and Lewis Christie, Presque Isle, who plan to set up an outdoor movie theater, to be ready for use the early part of this summer.

Funland to go out to auction — Piecemeal or parcel, the Funland Amusement Park is being auctioned off April 24. The artifacts that have made the Route 1 location a landmark since 1961 are being offered individually or as a package deal with the property.

Modern shoe store set for opening here — Opening here on Friday, the Guerrette Shoe Store, 53 Sweden street, marks another improvement to the Caribou business section.

Still going strong — Jos. W. Gary, one of Caribou’s highly esteemed citizens, and postmaster for about 40 years, is still enjoying all his facilities, although nearing the century mark as regards years, being 94 years old.

To open a new drug store here Friday — Doctor’s Pharmacy will open their new Drug store here Friday according to an announcement made this week by its manager Ralph Pinette.
