Boston Dr. relocates here — Dr. Elmond A. Burnham, of Boston, well known to many of our citizens by reason of his frequent visits here, is so well pleased with our community and its citizens that he has decided to locate here permanently.

A public park — At the special town meeting held in town hall, this Friday forenoon, the public park enthusiasts gained a big victory. There were those there who opposed the idea but they were pitifully in the minority.

Back in town — Norman Shea, brother of Geo. Shea of this town, arrived here Monday from Seattle.

Big storm — The big storm of Sunday night was the cause of heavy damage throughout the New England states. It was the fiercest storm Maine has experienced in forty years. The heaviest damage was done to the telegraph and telephone companies.

New buildings going up — The report of the building inspector shows that seventy-three new buildings have gone up in Houlton this season. With this large increase the demand for buildings has not yet been satisfied.

New hook and ladder truck — The Houlton Fire Department has recently received a new and up-to-date hook and ladder truck.

Change publication date — The Aroostook Pioneer, hitherto published on Tuesdays, will next week change its date of publication and will be issued on Wednesdays.

Opened to the public — The Cary Library opened to the public last week and is being liberally patronized by the public. New books are arriving daily. Miss Anna Barnes is the librarian in charge.

New owner — Mr. Geo. Niles has recently purchased the White Front Shoe stock and will continue to carry on the business at the same stand. Mr. Niles is thoroughly familiar with the boot and shoe business and is worthy of his share of patronage.
