100 Years Ago – Aus. 4, 1920
     Returned to Houlton — John Chapman, who formerly worked for the Putnam Hardware Co., in the accounting department, leaving there to enter the U. S. service, has returned to Houlton and has entered the employ of B. S. Green as a salesman.

100 Years Ago – July 21, 1920
     Training — Robert Yetton, whose compensation for vocational training has been approved, has started in on his work having chosen telephone work as his line. New switch boards are being installed in parts of the county and he is out learning, while experienced men are teaching him the ins and outs of this work.

     Leased a room — Mr. Bugbee who conducts a restaurant in the Thibadeau Block has leased the connecting room in rear of his present location and will open it up in connection with his lunch counter and will use the new part for ladies.

     New prices — Beginning July 5 the motion picture houses advanced their admission prices, being the last line of business throughout the country to raise their prices to meet the advancing costs of everything that goes into the making of a Motion picture.

     Returns home — Wm. H. Higgins, who formerly drove a public carriage here but recently of Bath, Maine, where he has been employed in the shipyards, has returned to Houlton where he expects to remain if he can buy a home.

100 Years Ago – June 23, 1920
     Making improvements — Earle & White, owners of the Exchange Block, are making some improvements in the rear of their block. They have torn down the three-story ell and will also open up a driveway between that and the stable which will reduce the fire risk very materially.

     Attending a meeting — Mr. and Mrs Chas. H. Fogg returned Friday from Poland Springs, where Mr. Fogg attended a meeting of the Directors of the Maine Automobile Association, who with their wives were guests of Hiram Ricker, president of the association.

     Gone to Boston — H. G. Dibblee left Monday evening for Boston where he will join a party of Cole agents for a trip to the factory in Indianapolis, where he will get his allotment of Cole cars for delivery.

     Rotary discussion — At the regular meeting of the Rotary club on Friday evening B.B. McIntyre of the Houlton Electric Co. gave an illustrated talk on the growth and development of electricity, which was most interesting.

100 Years Ago – May 19, 1920
     Leaving for convention — Mrs. Cora Putnam will leave Wednesday for Boston where she will attend the Red Cross convention. On her return she will stop at Portland where she is a delegate to the Grand Chapter O.E.S., which convenes next week.
