Trip to Boston and New York — Ray N. L. Brown started Tuesday morning for Boston and New York where he will visit the markets for the purpose of selecting a spring and summer stock of goods for A. V. Goud & Co.’s dry goods store.

Returned from trip– Howard Fox returned Monday from a trip to New York, Buffalo, Montreal and other cities, having made the trip in the company of his brother.

Retired — G. W. Irving has retired from the Caribou Water, Light & Power Company, his interests having been purchased by R. L. Gary and J. P. Donworth.

New photographic studio opens — A. W. Plummer, the ‘ping pong man,’ who has opened a photographic studio in the Cary block, was employed as photographer by the Associated Press at the time of the San Francisco earthquake, and has many of the original pictures taken at that time.

Getting things started — The Aroostook Starch Co. had a crew of men at work last Thursday clearing land to pile lumber on for their now factory to be built next summer. It will be a few rods back from P. L. Youngren’s store.

Busy day — Tuesday was a busy day with Caribou merchants. Many traders report the Christmas business ahead of last year; and this, too, in a year when Aroostook is supposed not to have any money.

Movies come to town — A moving picture machine will soon be run in Fort Fairfield, Presque Isle, Caribou and other north Aroostook towns by G. Wilmot Gerow and June Loring, who will arrive in Fort Fairfield with it in a few days. They will work in northern Maine all winter, making Fort Fairfield their headquarters.
115 Years Ago – Aug. 29, 1907
Soon to be — H.O. Spencer, the Sweden street jeweler, who was some time ago appointed inspector of watches and clocks used on this division of the B&A railroad, received this week full requisites for the position, and hereafter all watches and clocks on this division will receive Mr. Spencer’s personal inspection.
115 Years Ago – Dec. 4, 1907
Work is being suspended for now — Work on the large house of W.A. Long on Collins street has been suspended until spring. This house is one of the largest in town, being 31 by 57 feet, three stories high and containing 23 rooms. The carpenter’s work has been under the supervision of J.C. Wright. The house is well made throughout, and has a large barn attached.

A company doing great work — The Caribou Hydraulic Company is a local institution, a local industry and is already giving steady employment to several men. The company has considerable work in view, and is now busy making brick of a superior quality.
