National Public Lands Day

To the editor:
Saturday, Sept. 26th is National Public Lands Day, and the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in Limestone will be ready for a day of work and fun. Bring your family and enjoy the beautiful outdoors and the Refuge. Starting at 9 a.m. there will be a Wood Duck box cleanup! About 10 a.m. there’ll be a family “scavenger hunt.” And at noon, the winner of the kayak will be drawn. I’m confident you can buy $5 raffle tickets just before the drawing.     At 1 p.m., there will be a bird walk with Bill Sheehan, and a wildflower identification walk with Linda Alverson. The Visitors Center and Nature Store will be open 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all to enjoy. Buy a 10-year anniversary Refuge T-shirt, with a moose on the front!
Please plan to come and spend some time with us and join the activities. Don’t get lost. Exit Highway 89 at Refuge Road, nine miles north of Caribou. This event is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Friends of the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge.
