PRESQUE ISLE — A local man has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon after an incident Aug. 22.
According to the Presque Isle Police Department log, police received a tip around noon on Aug. 22 that Geary S. Bonville, 70, of Presque Isle, was operating a tractor-trailer truck in the vicinity of Main St. with a possibly expired registration. Officer Larry Fickett, PIPD, checked but Bonville had reportedly left the area. A short time later that same day, police received a second report involving Bonville and the truck.
This time, the caller indicated Bonville had struck an automobile with his tractor-trailer truck in the vicinity of the Skyway Trailer Park. Fickett and Officer Rob Thibeault, PIPD, responded.
Witnesses stated that Bonville intentionally crossed the center of the road and twice ran into a car which had passengers.
Fickett and Thibeault went in search of Bonville, eventually locating him on Main St. Bonville was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief and taken to the PIPD for processing.
Bonville was able to make bail and was given a Nov. 20 Caribou Superior Court date.
Police had no comment on what may have motivated Bonville’s actions.
