EASTON — Field Days activities will begin this week, with the fun taking place from July 7 to July 12. Everyone is welcome to come and participate in all the events. There is fun for everyone.
On July 8, there will be basketball tournaments. The games will start at 4:15 (girls), 5:30 (girls), 6:15 (boys), 8 p.m. (boys) at the Easton High School. Concessions will be available. There will be major league baseball versus Fort Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on the field next to the tennis courts.
On Thursday, July 9, there will be a garden tour starting at the Odd Fellows Hall at 1 p.m. We will be visiting Cathy Bradley’s, Terry Chalou’s and Marilyn Brown’s. Light refreshments will be provided. The tour is free and open to all who want to participate. Also, minor league baseball will have a game versus Washburn at 5:30 p.m. on the field near the tennis courts. Come cheer these young athletes on. The cribbage tournament will be held at 7 p.m. It will be $2 to play and concessions will be available. There will be a family movie night at 7 p.m. and this is free at the elementary school. Concessions will be available.
Friday, July 10, will begin with an open house at the Francis Malcolm Science Center, 776 Houlton Rd./Route 1A, from 1-3 p.m. There will be a planetarium show at 2 p.m. Admission is free. If you are in the flower show, you will set up on Friday at 4 p.m. at the elementary school cafeteria. The different categories are: Best Use of Color; Just Because You Like It; Garden Flowers; Wild Flowers; Red, White and Blue; Whimsical; People’s Choice; Grandmother’s Garden; Most Original Vase; Large Arrangement; Petite Arrangement; and For Men and Children Only. Prizes will be awarded. At 4-6:30 p.m., there will be the annual Kiwanis Chicken Barbecue. This will be at the Easton school cafeteria. The charge will be $8 full dinner/ $6 chicken only. Hamburgers and hotdogs will also be available. G-Force Laser Tag will be at 7-10 p.m. at the Easton Jr./Sr. High sSchool. Ages 12 and under will be from 7-8 p.m. and will be $5 each. Ages 12 and up will be from 8-10 p.m. and will cost $10 each. Concessions will be available.
Saturday, July 11, will start off with a pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at the Odd Fellow’s Hall, 23 Station Rd. The cost will be $6 adult, $3 children. The parade lineup will be at 9:30 a.m. at Perry Drive. The Center Rd. will be closed for the parade at 9:45 a.m. The parade will start at 10 a.m. After the parade, the booths, concessions and amusements open at the school grounds at 11 a.m. The frog-jumping contest will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the boys’ soccer field. Games of all kinds will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the boys’ soccer field. “Walk on the Wild Side” cash and prizes will be awarded. This will be at 2 p.m. in the Easton High School gym. It is open to grades 6 and under.
Also on Saturday, the 16th annual golf tournament will get under way at 2 p.m. a the West Ridge Golf Course. It will cost $50 for a four-person team. To register, call 429-9368. There will be a spaghetti supper from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, 23 Station Rd. The cost will be $7 adult, $3 children. Randy Judkins, a comedian, magician, juggler, who does characters and more, will be performing at the Easton High School gym at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted. Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. at the school grounds. Concessions will be available. The rain date will be July 12.
Sunday, July 12, there will be a church service at the River de Chute church at 10 a.m. on the Ladner Rd. There will be a southern gospel concert at the Easton High School gym featuring Brian Beverly of North Carolina. This will start at 3 p.m. A love offering will be taken.
As a fund-raiser, 50/50 tickets will be sold throughout the week with the proceeds going to the Easton Field Days.
Craft and food vendors — if you are interested in having a craft or food booth, please call Marilyn Brown at 488-2565. No fee to set up, but you must provide your own tables.
