PRESQUE ISLE – The Presque Isle Kiwanis Club recently donated $720 to Crown Ambulance, a department of The Aroostook Medical Center, for the purchase of two potentially life-saving devices.
The EZ-IO devices allow emergency responders to give drugs and fluids directly into bones when access to veins is not possible. The technology can save valuable seconds in an emergency and is especially useful with pediatric patients.
Crown Ambulance staff has already received training on how to use the devices, and the emergency response service plans to eventually outfit every one of its ambulances with the new technology.
Presque Isle Kiwanis Club President Diane Green presented Perry Jackson of Crown Ambulance a check to be used for two EZ-IO devices.
