A donation from the United Insurance Kieffer Agency in the amout of $400 was presented to Norma Milton, of Halfway Home Pet Rescue, on Monday, Sept. 29 at the Kieffer Agency office in Caribou. Owner Robert Kieffer and his employees held various fund-raising events during “Thursdays on Sweden Street” to raise the donation. Milton explained that the Kieffer family has always been well known in Caribou for being very community spirited. “Because they are very straightforward and honest, when they contacted me and said they were going to do this, I was very pleased,” said Milton. “This $400 is going directly toward the vet bill, which is always anywhere between $2,000 and $3,000 per month, so this is going to be a big help. It’s going to save a couple of those kittens’ lives.” Presenting the check to Milton are, from left, Lori Plourde, Linda Ala, Kieffer, Shelby Raymond, Amy LaMothe and Louise Adams. Absent from the photo was Carol Austin.
