KINGFIELD — Officials with the Ski Museum of Maine announced on July 16 that Madawaska Lake resident Karla Wolters was elected to the board of directors of the ski museum at the organization’s annual meeting in June.
Wolters is a retired physical education instructor who taught cross-country skiing and sports history at Hope College in Michigan. She is an avid follower of the Aroostook County lifestyle and, for the past three years, has been very active as a museum volunteer, attending County events and festivals on the museum’s behalf and performing research.
Wolters has written articles on winter carnivals for Echoes magazine, and plans to write a book on the history of skiing in Aroostook County.
The Ski Museum of Maine is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established to preserve and publicize the business of skiing in Maine, while celebrating Maine’s ski history and heritage. The museum exhibits artifacts, photographs, artworks, and documents at its location in Kingfield, conducts educational programs to ski clubs, schools, libraries, historical and civic organizations, and hosts social events and activities throughout the year.
