On June 27, the Aroostook County Underage Drinking Taskforce was given information of a pit party just off the Albair Rd. in Caribou. A response team was formed, a plan was initiated and at approximately 11:00 p.m. the team responded to the underage drinking pit party. Approximately 60 people from the central Aroostook County area were gathered at the unauthorized location. Approximately 15 individuals will be charged with underage drinking. Charges are forthcoming for 3 adults, and pending investigation, other individuals may be charged with various crimes.
Ages range from 15 to 27 and violations include possession of alcohol by a minor, burning without a permit, littering and furnishing alcohol to a minor. We would like to thank the public for the valuable information that led up to the prevention of a possible tragic situation.
The Aroostook County Underage Drinking Taskforce is partially funded by the Maine Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws grant.
The collaboration of prevention coalitions that include Community Voices, Drug-Free Communities and CADET, not only makes our county safer but it provides reassurance that our children are being well taken care of by those who care.
