Caribou Little League’s regular season wraps up this week, with playoffs beginning on Monday, July 7. This Saturday, July 5, will feature the all-star festivities, with games between the American League and the National League in the 9-10 year age group, 11-12 age group and coaches’ game.
The first game starts at 10 a.m. on the Robert White Field at Hilltop School in Caribou.
Game summaries from the last two weeks are as follows:
Knights of Columbus 25, Tigers 8
All of the KC players had at least one hit as they pounded out 20 to beat the Tigers. Bryce Bonville, Cory Herbert and Marcus Daigle paced KC with three hits apiece. Cole DeCambra got his first two hits of the season to help the cause. Ari Plante came on in relief to help seal the victory.
For the Tigers, Lexi Parker contributed two hits, while Bryant Hayes and Rylan Masse each added one. Bryant Hayes and Gabby Sutherland added some good defensive plays in the field.
Shop & Save 5, Eagles 3
Alex Ezzy pitched a complete game, allowing only three runs on five hits, as Shop & Save got by the Eagles. Ezzy and Sawyer Deprey each had two singles and two runs scored for Shop & Save, Parker Deprey had a run-scoring single and a sacrifice fly and Miles Collier added a single.
For the Eagles, Connor Soucy, Amber Moir, Keith Bray and Wyatt Taggett strung together singles in the third inning as the Eagles scored all of their runs. Ghent Durepo had a first-inning double but was stranded at third. On the mound for the Eagles, Taggett struck out 12 in 4-2/3 innings, with Bray finishing up the game.
Knights of Columbus 8,
MVH/VFW 1
Colby Bonville pitched 5-2/3 innings and struck out nine to pace the Knights. Bonville also added two hits and drove in a run. Hailey Holmquist added a double with two RBI, and Aidan Plante, Ryan Austin and Bryce Bonville each added a hit.
For MVH-VFW, Willow Whitten had a pair of hits, including a triple to deep left center. Abby St. Peter and Jacob Berkoski also notched hits, with Berkoski stealing home to account for the team’s only run.
Shop & Save 10, Key Bank 4
Parker Deprey pitched 5-1/3 innings, allowing only two earned runs on two hits with 12 strikeouts, to lead Shop & Save to the victory.
Alex Ezzy led Shop & Save at the plate with a two-run inside-the-park home run and a single, and Parker Deprey helped his cause with an RBI double and a single. Sawyer Deprey and Miles Collier also drove in runs with base hits.
For Key Bank, Cullen Caverhill had a double and scored, Theo Strid had an RBI single and scored two runs and Jacob Paul had an RBI single. On the mound, starter Paul went 2-2/3 innings and Caverhill went 3-1/3, combining for 14 strikeouts.
MVH/VFW 12, Tigers 6
After being down 9-1 after four innings the Tigers battled back with five runs in the final two innings but fell short.
Leading MVH-VFW were Jake Berkoski with three inside-the-park home runs and Abby St.Peter and Dawson Whitten with two hits each. MVH-VFW also had hits from Josh Cummings, Logan Griffeth and Whitley Green. Cummings pitched 4-1/3 innings, allowing only three hits while notching 10 strikeouts, and Griffeth finished the game and fanned four.
For the Tigers, Brooke Moir, Tanner Prashaw, Matt McCormick, Rylan Masse, Halle Greenier and Lexis Parker all had hits. Pitching for the Tigers were Gabby Sutherland, Bryant Hayes and Tanner Prashaw.
Shop & Save 5, Northstars 4
Sawyer Deprey hit a double into the gap in right center field to drive in Ethan Holdsworth, who had reached base with a bunt single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, to give Shop & Save a thrilling 5-4 walk-off victory over the Northstars.
Sawyer Deprey finished with three hits and three RBI, while Alex Ezzy and Parker Deprey added singles for Shop & Save. Devin Wright coaxed a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run. On the mound, starter Ezzy went 4-1/3 innings, followed by Sawyer Deprey, who threw 1-1/3 innings, and Parker Deprey, who pitched 1/3 of an inning and earned the victory.
For the Northstars, Oliver Peterson had two hits, including a double and an RBI, Alex Bouchard had a triple, and Riley Bouchard had an RBI double. Carter Quist also doubled, Walker Clark singled and Morgan Hewitt singled and had a run-saving catch in right field with the bases loaded.
Splitting the pitching duties for the Northstars were Riley Bouchard, who went the first 2-2/3, and Quist, who pitched three innings.
Shop & Save 27, Tigers 4
Shop & Save bats came alive for 24 hits on the team’s way to a 27-4 victory over the Tigers.
Miles Collier, Alex Ezzy and Parker Deprey all had five hits to lead the attack. Others with multi-hit games were Ethan Holdsworth with three hits, and Sawyer Deprey and Destinee Goodridge with two singles each. Alex Picard and Devin Wright also hit safely for Shop & Save.
On the mound, Sawyer Deprey went three scoreless innings to get the win, followed by Collier, Wright and Holdsworth. For the Tigers, Bryant Hayes drove in two runs with a double for their lone hit, while Ethan Albair reached base three times and scored. On the mound, Gabby Sutherland, Hayes, Alexis Parker, and Ryan Ehlermann combined for 11 strikeouts.
