Katahdin Trust Company has provided a generous boost to the Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament. The Bank, with 19 locations throughout the state, will be the ‘major corporate sponsor’ of the 31st annual golf tournament directed by the Jefferson Cary Foundation. Making a $5,000 donation to the event, Bank President and CEO, Jon Prescott said that the bank takes their commitment to the communities it serves very seriously and is pleased to sponsor this event.
“At Katahdin Trust investing in our communities to improve the quality of life is part of our ongoing mission,” said Prescott. “The Jefferson Cary Foundation does tremendous work generating thousands of dollars annually to improve health care services at Cary Medical Center and we are delighted to partner with them as the major corporate sponsor of the 31st annual Cary Classic.”
Over the 30-year history of the tournament more than a quarter of a million dollars has been raised to benefit the Caribou hospital. Proceeds from the 31st annual event will benefit the Women’s Imaging Center which features advanced technology for diagnostic mammography in a ‘spa’ like environment. Mary Harrigan, executive director of the Jefferson Cary Foundation, said that the sponsorship by Katahdin Trust will guarantee a successful event and that the bank has been a strong supporter of the Women’s Imaging Center.

“Katahdin Trust Company not only is the major corporate sponsor for the 2014 Cary Classic, they also were very generous during the capital campaign for the new imaging center,” said Harrigan, who coordinated the effort to raise over $800,000 for the project. “We are very grateful to the bank and we are looking forward to a very exciting golf tournament in July.”
The 2014 Cary Classic benefit golf tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 12th and 13th at the Caribou Country Club. There is a free practice round for registered golfers on Friday, July 11. The tournament features some $8,000 in prizes and a prime rib dinner at the awards banquet Sunday night. Every registered golfer will receive a logo embroidered golf shirt. Other tournament highlights include; longest drive and closest to the pin competitions for both men and women, four men’s divisions and two ladies divisions with prizes running three deep both gross and net.
A special ‘Hole-in-One’ prize of $25,000 will be awarded to a golfer that hits the first hole-in-one on Sunday, on hole number 7 of the front nine. Any golfer who registers and completes in the tournament will have a chance to win two tickets to the Deutsche Bank Championship Tournament in Boston starting August 29th through September 2nd. The two tickets are for all four days of the popular PGA tour event. The tournament registration fee for the Cary Classic is $75 for Caribou Country Club members and $85 for non-members.
To guarantee pairings for Saturday, July 12th registrations are due by Tuesday, July 8th and registration deadline is July 10th. FMI contact Harrigan at the Jefferson Cary Foundation, 493-4849 or by email at jcf@carymed.org.
