Memorial Day Parade — The Memorial Day Parade will be held in Caribou on May 26, between the court house and Veterans Memorial Park. The parade will start at 10 a.m. It will be dedicated to all veterans and will be in memory of all those veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and have now gone to eternal rest.
Memorial Day Services — Memorial Day Services will be held on May 26 at 1 p.m. at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, in Caribou. Clarence “Mac” McGlaughlin will act as the Master of Ceremonies, and will introduce the many guest speakers in attendance. Sgt. Major Roger Felix and CPO Carl Smith will be presenting Loring Job Corps Student Honor Guards with their colors, and the National Anthem will be sung by Chloe Wheeler. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Susan “Dahlgren” Daigneault, who is the daughter of Medal of Honor recipient Edward C. “Eddie” Dahlgren. Dahlgren was a lifelong resident of Aroostook County, while his daughter, Dr. Daigneault, authored a book about her father titled, “In the Shadow of a Mountain: A Soldier’s Struggle with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.” Guest speakers for the event include, Harry C. Hafford, Phil Bosse, Sharon Campbell and Barbara Hayslett.
