Tiger basketball camp welcomes coaches

    FORT FAIRFIELD-Tiger Basketball Camp is pleased to announce the addition of Presque Isle boys and girls head coaches Tim Prescott and Jeff Hudson to the list of coaches who will be speaking at this year’s basketball camp.

    Camp Director Larry Gardner stated, “We’re very fortunate to have both Tim and Jeff attending camp to lecture and impart their basketball knowledge to our young players. They will be a great addition as both coaches are well respected around the State for their coaching ability.” Both Prescott and Hudson received Coach of the Year recognition from the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches for Eastern Maine Class B boys and girls this year.
    Dates for this year’s “Tiger” Basketball Camp have been set for June 22-26 for the boys and June 29th-July 3rd for the girls. The camp is open to boys and girls presently in grades one through eight. 
    Gardner stated, “We are very excited to be able to offer this type of basketball camp and are very fortunate to have outstanding coaches and role models working our camp.
    The boys and girls camps will be limited to the first 150 applicants and will be held at the Fort Fairfield High School gyms.  The camp will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday.  The camp will include breakfast and lunch each day with a special barbecue lunch on Tuesday.  Each participant will also receive a “Tiger” Basketball T-shirt and a camp basketball.
    The camp fee of $100 includes the camp instruction, meals, awards, camp T-shirt and a Free Basketball. Awards will be given on Friday afternoon after our “Family Barbecue”.  The “Family BBQ” is free to parents and family of camp participants.
    Players will be grouped by age and ability into three divisions: High School, College and NBA/WNBA and will have 8 indoor and outdoor courts available to use. 
    The High School division  will use shorter baskets and smaller balls while the College and NBA /WNBA divisions will use regulation baskets and balls.   The camp will provide each player with an opportunity to develop his or her basketball skills through drills, games, films and lectures while offering a competitive and fun atmosphere.  Rest periods will use films and boredom busters games. Each team will play two games a day with all championship competition to be decided on Friday.
