Following two weeks off from competition due to inclement weather the previous weekend, the Caribou swim team was back to work Saturday when it hosted Hampden Academy at the Limestone Community School pool. The visiting Broncos won the girls’ meet, 90-37, and also was victorious in the boys’ meet, 96-12.
Kristyn Maley won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 31.38 seconds and Olivia Engstrom captured first in the 500 freestyle in 7:24.19 for the Viking girls’ only victories of the afternoon.
Maley also came in second in the 100 backstroke in 1:22.1 and Engstrom third in the 200 freestyle in 2:44.49.
For the Caribou boys, Austin Scott won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.55 and also captured the victory in the 500 freestyle in 6:23.47.
Some Limestone-MSSM swimmers also participated, with Marjorie McDonough taking the 100 fly in 1:24.45 and Gordon McCulloh and Paddy Keith-Hardy second and third, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:30;96 and 1:35.1.
Caribou’s next meet is scheduled for Saturday when it makes the trip to Dover-Foxcroft for a 1 p.m. meet against the Foxcroft Academy Ponies.
