    NEW SWEDEN – Andrea A. Johnston, 61, wife of Robert J. Johnston, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2013, at her New Sweden residence following an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1952, in Caribou, the daughter of Lawrence and Viola M. (Anderson) Sturgeon.
    Andrea attended Caribou schools and earned a B.S. degree in behavioral sciences from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2004. She was married to Robert J. Johnston on October 31, 1970, and had been employed as an education tech at both the New Sweden and Caribou school systems for several years. Andrea will be remembered by her family as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She held education in high esteem and loved kids. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, crafts, and animals, especially her therapy dog, Pepper and her cat, Mokie.
    In addition to her parents, Andrea was predeceased by one sister, Lorena M. Bourland. She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Robert of New Sweden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph L. and Shannon Johnston, Dean R. and Kendy Johnston, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandsons, Cohen and Griffen Johnston; three grand daughters, Harper, Lauren and Madelaine Johnston, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Sheldon L. and Connie Sturgeon of Woodland; one sister, Mona Michael of Caribou; several nieces and nephews.
    In keeping with Andrea’s wishes, there will be no funeral service at this time. A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at the Northern Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Caribou, later in the spring at a date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Johnston to the charity or organization of one’s choice.
