Scott qualifies for state swim meet

The Presque Isle and Caribou swim teams had their first head-to-head meeting last Wednesday at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool, with the Wildcats winning the girls’ meet, 51-36, and the boys’ meet, 49-8.
Three swimmers qualified for the state meet in different events — Caribou’s Austin Scott in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly; Presque Isle’s Nate Dewitt in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke; and PI’s Joshua Jones in the 50 freestyle.    Results from the recent meet are as follows:
Girls’ 200-yard medley relay: first, Presque Isle (Olivia Goulet, Naomi McEachern, Jacqueline Lambert and Sara Gilson), 2:35.01; second, Caribou (Courtney Cote, Olivia Engstrom, Kristyn Maley and Andromida Grondin), 2:45.14. Boys: first, Presque Isle (Dustin Drabek, Alex Hemphill, Dewitt and Jones), 1:59.25.
Girls’ 200 freestyle: first, Heather Nadeau, PI, 2:48.95; second, Grondin, Caribou, 3:11.99; and third, Conner Spencer, Caribou, 3:14.27. Boys: first, Drabek, PI, 2:18.57.

Fort Fairfield’s Alexis Coiley recorded the fastest times in both the girls’ 200 IM (2:39.24) and the 100 breaststroke (1:24.38).
