Holiday hours

    The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will close at noon on Dec. 24 and also be closed on Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas.

Men’s 30-and-over basketball program

    Men’s 30-and-over basketball meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon through April 20, 2014. The program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and over and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. There is a $3 fee per person during the Sunday session.

Kids’ playgroup

    The recreation department will provide gym space for parents and toddlers. This is a self-guided program which meets Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Participants can bring toys. Please no black rubber-wheeled toys. Please check posted schedules for activities that may result in the cancellation of this open time.
Boys’ and girls’basketball programs.
The boys’ grade 5-6 basketball program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Fridays from 3-5 p.m. beginning Jan. 3, 2014. The girls’ basketball program for grades 4-6 meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and some Fridays from 3-5 p.m. and begins the same date. The fee for this program is $10 per child. Pre-registration is required.

Elks Hoop Shoot

    The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Elks Hoop Shoot on Dec. 28 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This free throw competition is open to boys and girls ages 8-13 (age as of April 1, 2014). Warm-ups are at 9:30 a.m. with the competition starting at 10 a.m. There is no fee for this event, but pre-registration is required.

Youth ski rental program

    The Northern Skiers Club and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to bring the Youth Ski Rental Program back to Caribou for all Caribou youth. This year seasonal rentals will be available for all Caribou youths and includes skis, boots, poles and a carrier for a fee of $60 plus a $20 refundable deposit upon the return of the equipment in the spring.
