Swim team opens vs. Brewer

The Caribou Vikings’ swim team made its 2013-14 season debut Friday with a meet held in Bangor against the Brewer Witches.
The Viking girls registered 36 points in the meet, with Brewer winning with 123.
Caribou’s 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Courtney Cote, Olivia Engstrom, Kristyn Maley and Conner Spencer placed second with a time of 2 minutes and 48.91 seconds.    Engstrom took  second in the 200 free in 3:01.49.
Cote was third in the 50 free in 41.16 seconds and in the 100 back in 1:38.16, while Maley was third in the 100 free in 1:11.10.
The Caribou boys were outscored by a margin of 94-12 in their competition.
Austin Scott picked up all 12 of the points for the Vikes as he won both the 200 free (2:22.23) and the 100 fly (1:08.66).
Limestone-MSSM also had athletes taking part. Andrew Craft, Paddy Keith-Hardy, Zeb Keith-Hardy and Andrew Arter all participated in relay and individual events but did not figure in the team results.
The next meet for the Vikings takes place tonight at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool against the Presque Isle Wildcats. The scheduled start time is 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, the team returns to Bangor for a meet against the John Bapst Crusaders beginning at 6 p.m.
