Thirteen adults joined the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s Take It Outside Adult Series for a guided tour to the Grand Falls Gorge this fall. Area residents were treated to a one-hour lead hike up “lovers lane,” where they made several stops to observe the views and the abundant amount of water flowing over the falls due to recent rain fall.
Following the tour, they visited the Grand Falls Marina, where we met with Gaetan Poitras of G.P. Boat Tours. Poitras loaded the group aboard his oversized pontoon boat, complete with a grill mounted to the front and fully enclosed zippered walls that are transparent. They ventured up the Saint John River and Poitras pulled over and fired up the grill for lunch, where the group was able to sit down to a hot meal consisting of baked potato, coleslaw, choice of steak or bacon wrapped chicken.
After lunch, they cleaned up and ventured up the river. Participants were able to dance aboard the boat or simply sit back and enjoy the views.
