PRESQUE ISLE – Mayland H. Hartsgrove, 69, died September 14, 2013, at his Presque Isle residence with his family by his side following a long illness. He was born in Perham, November 24, 1943, the son of the late Henry and Mae (Wilcox) Hartsgrove.
Mr. Hartsgrove was employed at Pratt and Whitney for a time when he lived in the Connecticut area and was also employed by several Aroostook County potato growers. He married Patricia Sparks on March 2, 1963. Mayland enjoyed volunteering with the Aroostook RSVP program, taking others to their doctor’s appointments. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 50 years, Patricia of Presque Isle are his son, Henry Hartsgrove and wife, Yvonne of Presque Isle; two daughters, Kathleen Osborne of Powhatan VA., and Sandra Hartsgrove and her significant other, Eddie Jewell, of Millington, CT; four sisters, Sharon Curtis and husband, Maynard, of Vernon, CT, Virginia Liotonne of Caribou, Georgia Grantham and husband, Vernon, of PA., and Elizabeth Maynard and husband, Cleve, of Easton; one brother, Kendall Skidgel and wife, Jodi, of Florida; four grandchildren, Amanda, William, Travis and Heather; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hartsgrove was predeceased by his parents, Harley and Mae Skidgel; one son, William Hartsgrove; and a sister, Carla Skidgel.
Family services will be held at a later date.
