Golf team meeting

    An organizational meeting for students interested in playing on the Caribou High School varsity golf team and their parents will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 in the CHS gym.
    The first practice is set for Monday, Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Caribou Country Club.

 

Youth soccer clinic offered at Caribou HS

    The annual Mini Vike Soccer Clinic, for students entering grades K-6 this fall, will be held at Caribou High School Aug. 12-16 from 9-10:30 a.m. each day.
    The cost of the clinic is $25 and registration will be taken on the first day of the clinic. Please make checks payable to the Caribou Athletic Department.

Eagle sports tryouts

    Limestone Community School fall sports will begin in August.
    Varsity boys’ soccer tryouts began Monday and are slated Aug. 7-9 from 8-10 a.m. each day.
    Varsity girls’ soccer tryouts also began Monday and will continue on the same dates and times. Aug. 7, 8-9:30 a.m.; Aug. 8, 5-6:30 p.m.; and Aug. 9, 4-6 p.m.
    Varsity cross country practices begin Aug. 12 at 4 p.m.
    Varsity golf will meet from 3:30-5 p.m. at Limestone Country Club Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning Aug. 7.
    Middle level girls soccer tryouts began Monday and are slated for Aug. 7-9 from 10-11:30 a.m. each day.
    All interested athletes must have a valid physical on file with the RSU 39 school nurse before they can participate. For more information, call the school at 325-4700.

Soccer tournament to be held Friday in PI

    The 21st annual PIHS Invitational Soccer Tournament will be held at the Johnson Athletic Complex Friday, Aug. 9.
    The admission fee is $2 for students and $4 for adults. Schools participating are Caribou, Madawaska, Fort Fairfield, Fort Kent, Van Buren, Ashland and host Presque Isle. Games, which are 25 minutes in length, begin at 9 a.m., with the girls’ championship slated at 4:35 p.m. and the boys’ championship at 5:15 p.m. 

Pink Aroostook golf scramble at CCC

    The Pink Aroostook Scramble benefit golf tournament is slated for Saturday, Aug. 10 at Caribou Country Club, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
    The registration fee is $100 per four-person team and mixed teams are welcome. The minimum team handicap is 40. Registration deadline is Thursday, Aug. 8. Call CCC at 493-3933 to register.
    The rain date for the tourney is Sunday, Aug. 11.
    All proceeds will benefit Pink Aroostook and help breast cancer survivors and advocacy throughout Aroostook County.

Softball batting practice in New Sweden

    A slow pitch softball batting practice, for any interested senior 55 years of age and older, is being offered Saturdays at the baseball field behind Northstar Variety in New Sweden beginning at 9 a.m.

KeyBank Charity Golf

    The seventh annual KeyBank Charity Golf Event is set for Saturday, Aug. 17 at Presque Isle Country Club.
    Proceeds will benefit several area charitable organizations and projects, including animal shelters, school projects, Project Graduation, Presque Isle Youth Hockey, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Aroostook House of Comfort, Junior Achievement, the United Way of Aroostook and Women, Work and Community.
    New organizations receiving funding this year are the Aroostook Aspirations Initiative and the Special Olympics Snowdogs basketball program.
    The shotgun start is at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. There is no minimum handicap for the three-person teams. The registration fee is $120 per team.
