Little Duke is an active, loving and sweet 9 week old kitty who loves being with his 30 siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue — but he would still rather have a home of his own.  For a limited time, HHPR will adopt out kittens including a spay/neuter voucher and all age appropriate medical care for $40 instead of the regular $55 fee. The price includes over $100 of free medical care for each cat. President of the HHPR Norma Milton reported that this week, the shelter was delighted for the opportunity to transfer nine Caribou cats to the Maine State Society of Animal Protection in South Windham for future adoption. “The MSAP is the elite of the elite group of dedicated people in animal welfare and these kitties will have the greatest opportunity for future adoption into loving family,” Milton said. “HHPR works diligently to network and transfer healthy, happy kittens and cats to other facilities when good homes in this area become scarce. Each cat deserves a home, sterilization surgery and the security as a beloved family pet.” Because the shelter is overfull, HHPR has reduced the adoption fee and is networking to adopt kittens/cats to no-kill rescues outside of Aroostook County. HHPR is a volunteer rescue and is open for adoption on Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. or by special appointment.  Call Mary at 999-1075 for more information.
