Crouseville – Kent Duane Cunningham, 64, died suddenly on June 21, 2013, after a brief illness, at Maine Veteran’s Hospice Center at Togus Medical Center in Augusta, ME. He was born on May 24, 1949, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles Everett and Crystal Crouse Cunningham.
Kent was a graduate of Moorestown Senior High School in Moorestown, NJ, and the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Conn., where he trained to be a Chef.
Kent served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from February 25, 1971, to February 28, 1974, and was stationed at West Point, NY, were he managed the NCO Club. After Kent’s military service, he was employed for many years in the food service and hotel industry working for Holiday Inns in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and later for the Sodexho Marriot Dining Services at Fairfield University in New Haven, Conn., as well as for the Bridgeport Board of Education in Bridgeport, Conn. Kent was an excellent chef and enjoyed cooking in his spare time.
Kent is survived by a sister, Robin Cunnin-gham; and sister-in-law, Rosemary O’Rourke of Martinsville, NJ. He was predeceased by his mother, Crystal Crouse Cunningham; father, Charles Everett Cunningham; and brother, C.E. Craig Cunningham.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, 2 Prospect St., Caribou. There will be a brief reception after the services in the church dining room followed by committal services at Hillside Grove Cemetery, Crouseville.
