Fenlason, Wallace L., 63, July 4, 2013. Arrangements by Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, Hampden.
HOLDEN – Wallace “Wally” Lewis Fenlason passed away in an unfortunate accident on July 4, 2013 doing something he loved, riding his treasured John Deere tractor in a parade. Always a farmer at heart, he was born into a farming family in Caribou on December 24, 1949, to Lewis E. & Charlene E. Fenlason.
Wally grew up in Caribou and graduated from Caribou High School in 1967. He was a member of the National Guard and very much wanted to pursue potato farming as a lifelong career. After high school, he met and married the love of his life, Lorena M. Plourde. Beautiful children, daughter Amy and son Wally soon followed.
The realities of life necessitated career changes and a move to Bangor. It was a bright new day for the young family in Bangor. With his natural attention to detail, Wally began his successful cleaning business, Doo-it-Rite Services. He was very devoted to providing for the needs of his customers.
Wally was a people person who dearly loved the organizations he was a part of. He was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge # 69 A.F. & A.M. of Winterport, and lifetime member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Bangor, of the Maine Cosistory 32 degree Mason, Valley of Portland and a lifetime member of the York Rite Bodies. Wallace was a lifetime member of the following organizations: the Anah Temple Shrine-Convertible Unit, Former Wagon Master of Anah Kampers, Good Sam, Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club and the Maine Snowmobile Association. He was also a member of the Antique Tractor Club, the Curran Farm Homestead, a Past Patron of Star in the East, OES, and a present officer of Millwee Chapter, President of the Herman Levi Rounders, and a member of the Bangor First United Methodist Church.
His greatest joys included spending time with and taking care of his wife, camping with his family and friends, being silly with his grandchildren, square dancing, and doing for others. He found grooming snowmobile trails by the light of the moon to be absolutely soul enhancing.
Wally is predeceased by his father, Lewis E. Fenlason, his paternal grandparents, Wallace K. & Grace Fenlason, his maternal grandparents, Morris & Annie St. Peter, and his father-in-law, Clifford P. Plourde. He also sadly missed his faithful companion, Teddy.
Wally is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Lorena; his children and their spouses, Amy & Erik Gailitis of Saco and Wallace “Wally” & Kelley Fenlason of Hampden. He adored being a grandfather to Destyn, Savanna, Logan and Rachel. He is survived by his mother, Charlene E. Fenlason of Scarborough; sisters, Jackie Fenlason and family of Scarborough, and Elaine Corrow and husband, Alan, and family of North Yarmouth; his mother-in-law, Doris M. Plourde of Caribou; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janice & Harold Cote of Connor, Shirley and John Staski of Connecticut, Linda Lajoie of Connor, Maynard and Marie Plourde of Caribou, Galen and Laura Plourde of South Carolina, Arnold Plourde of Georgia, Richard and Sue Plourde of Connor, and Laurie and Scott Daniels of Connecticut; by close family friend and business partner, Donna Wood and her sons, Michael and Peter Rines, who thought of Wally as a role model and mentor.
