Game summaries for last week in the Caribou Little League were as follows:
Bank of Maine 20, Police 2
Bank of Maine beat a gritty Police team in a game that was shortened by rain and darkness. For Bank of Maine, Seth Roy pitched four solid innings and Benoit Levesque finished the game in his Little League mound debut. Solid at bats and defense from the entire team contributed to the SBM win. Kaden Demerchant and Colin Poitras each recorded their first career base hits during the game.
The Police team was led by the hitting and pitching of Devin Saggese as well as a solid contribution from Cameron Ouellette.
Shop & Save 6, S.W. Collins 3
Shop & Save’s Alex Ezzy singled home Jonah Thayer with the go-ahead run to break a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning and give Shop & Save the lead for good over S.W. Collins. Evan Burgay and Tristan Mancos had back-to-back doubles in the fifth inning, with Mancos coming in to score on a sacrifice fly by Keegan Dickinson for the final margin.
Ezzy and Burgay finished with two hits each, while Parker Deprey and Carter Conley also added singles. On the mound, Mancos pitched 4-1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts to get the win, and Deprey came in and pitched 1-2/3 to earn the save.
For S.W. Collins, Tyler Wright reached base all three times at bat, scoring two runs. Edie Shea walked and scored the other run. Wright also pitched four innings, striking out eight, and Sydney Thompson pitched the last two frames.
Sleepers 13, Key Bank 0
Camden Huck and Brandon Manter combined on a no-hit shutout of Key Bank to lead Sleepers to a 13-0 victory. For Sleepers, Manter hit a towering home run to put the exclamation point on the win. Jay Belanger singled and doubled, and Hayden Hunter doubled for Sleepers. Jacob Ouellette, Chris Cassidy and Devin White singled and first-year player Keegan Cogswell had his first Little League base hit, driving in two runs for the winners.
Key Bank kept the game close at the outset, trailing only 1-0 after two innings and displayed some strong defense in stopping a couple of rallies. Tyler Strid and Jacob Soucy both made nice catches in the outfield while Owen Martin and Cullin Caverhill played strong games at catcher for the Bankers.
S.W. Collins 15, Police 1
S.W. Collins used a strong hitting attack to power past Police. Tyler Wright led off with an inside-the-park home run in the first inning. Tyler Shade, Chandler Bell and Sydney Thompson all had a pair of hits, including a triple for Thompson. Zack Gerakaris also hit an inside-the-park home run and Landon Thompson collected the first hit of his Little League career. Hope Shea nailed a line drive to right field, bringing in Collins’s last run of the game. Thompson started on the mound and pitched a solid game, while Dagan Savage closed. For Police, Jeremy Bolen was the lone runner to score. On the mound for Police were Drew Evans, Bolen and Cameron Ouellette.
Shop & Save 15, VFW 8
Shop & Save scored 10 runs in the first inning to jump out to a big lead, then held on to post a 15-8 victory over VFW. Keegan Dickinson had four hits, and four players had three hits for Shop & Save — Alex Ezzy Carter Conley, Parker Deprey and Sawyer Deprey. Conley had four RBI in the contest. Evan Burgay slugged a home run over the center field fence and also doubled. Alex Picard and Destinee Goodridge both had their first career Little League hits.
For VFW, Brandyn Matheson had three hits and three RBI to lead the attack. Jake Berkoski, Darren Hall and Abby St. Peter also had hits. On the mound, Josh Cummings pitched the first 2-2/3 innings and Jake Berkoski came on to pitch 3-1/3 innings of shutout ball.
