LIMESTONE — Tell the kids to pull on their galoshes and untangle the fishing poles, because the annual Youth Fishing Derby gets underway next weekend at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge.
Rain or shine, registration starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 8; young anglers have between 9 and 11:30 a.m. to catch the biggest fish they can; weigh in occurs at 11:30 with the awards being presented between noon and 12:30 p.m.
As always, the fishing derby takes place at Delima Pond; signs will be posted on Route 89 and periodically along the road to help families find their way over to the pond.
“We look forward to seeing you all there, making this year’s event even more successful than the last,” organizers said, reminding attendees not to forget their insect spray.
