CARIBOU — Employees of the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up with Pepsi Cola Bottling of Presque Isle to kick off spring with Community Pride Day on Saturday, April 27. Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Kathy Mazzuchelli noted that Pepsi Cola Bottling of Presque Isle does community service projects across The County and this year designated Caribou as a site location.
“Community Pride Day will be a day for community residents to join parks and recreation staff to clean up the community’s parks, playgrounds and landscape areas,” she added.
The Community Pride Day Program will get underway at 8 a.m. and continue until noon, when Pepsi Cola Bottling will provide lunch at Teague Park for all volunteers.
Mazzuchelli indicated that parks and recreation officials are looking for people to volunteer to help clean up a park or landscape area near where they live or at one of the major facilities in town.
All volunteers must register at the Parks and Recreation office and decide where they will work. Parks and Recreation staff will communicate with volunteers on what will be designated to be completed at the site they are assigned.
Mazzuchelli is hopeful that designating a Community Pride Day will increase people’s awareness of what some of the public facilities are in their community and to appreciate them and monitor them throughout the year.
“We are particularly pleased to work with Pepsi Cola Bottling on this project and look forward to engaging lots of families with this project,” said Mazzuchelli.
Persons wishing to register should contact the Caribou Parks and Recreation office at 493-4224 or stop by to discuss a particular area they may be interested in.
