CARIBOU — The Aroostook Middle School Wrestling Championship took place March 30 at Caribou Middle School. Joining the hosts as participants were Presque Isle, Union 122 and Fort Kent.
The Vikings ended up as the champs by scoring 174 points. PI followed with 113, ahead of Union 122 with 96 and Fort Kent with 66.
Caribou wrestlers captured eight of the 17 weight divisions, while also taking second place in six.
Viking winners include Tabitha Saucier in the 78 lb. division, Evan Michaud in 85, Marcus Caudill in 92, Corey Jandreau in 99, Zach Gerakaris in 106, Apollo Grondin in 126, Eric Simon in 165 and Tanner Haines in 200.
For Presque Isle, taking first place were Patrick Lessard in 71, Trace Cyr in 138, Alexis Quevevo in 145 and Greyson Sonntag in 180.
Union 122 champions were Calvin Mockler in 113, Kyle Morris in 120 and Caleb Trombley in 132.
Trevor Theriault in 155 and Logan Theriault in 240 were victorious for Fort Kent.
The Caribou runners-up were Seth Roy in 92, Hunter Jackson in 99, Joey Cyr in 106, Connor Charette in 113, Isiah Thayer in 180 and Sarah Levesque in 240.
For PI, placing second were Mason Young in 85, Maxx Langille in 120, Bradley Kinney in 132 and Jonah Clark in 155.
The Union 122 second-place competitors were Zak Tracy in 71, Nick Alfaro in 126, Lance Legasse in 138, Brandon Manter in 165 and Kassandra Boyington in 200.
Jordan Labbe in 145 was a runner-up for Fort Kent.
