CEBOLLITA SPRINGS, NM – Loving husband and father Rodney E. Gauvin, age 70, a resident of Cebollita Springs, NM passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born on August 1, 1942 in Caribou, to Romey John Gauvin and Anna Marie Blanchette Gauvin.
He served in the US Navy from June 1961 to June 1965, served during the Vietnam war, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of La Verne in Laverne, CA.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ouellette Gauvin on November 28, 1964 in Chicopee Falls, MA.
He retired in 1995 after ten years of employment with Northrop-Grumman. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He enjoyed archery, woodworking, photography and also coached soccer when his boys were young and also enjoyed being a dad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Romey John Gauvin and Anna Marie Blanchette Gauvin; brother, Captain Roger E. Gauvin; and sister-in-law Diane Lee McAlester.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy A. Gauvin of the family home in Cebollita Springs, NM; sons, Keith Gauvin and wife Jeannette of Dundee, OR, Jeffery Gauvin and wife Christine of Shrewsbury, MA; grand-children, Justin Gauvin, Jessica Gauvin, Joshua Gauvin and Rebecca Gauvin; brother, Raymond Gauvin and wife Connie of Windham, ME; sister, Doris Thibodeau and husband Will of East Hartford, CT; sisters-in-law, Pamela Rhodes and husband Harry of Cebollita Springs, NM, Paula Winters and husband Michael of Choctaw, OK and Roberta Walton of Caribou, ME; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial mass was held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Caribou, followed with Committal Services at the Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Caribou.
