Travel hoop teams begin campaign

    The Caribou boys’ grades 5-6 travel basketball team defeated Fort Fairfield in the Vikings’ home opener on Jan. 22.
    Caribou took an early lead but Fort Fairfield did a good job hanging close for most of the game. The Vikes led by eight points at the half and went on for a 42-26 victory.

    Stepping up for Caribou defensively was Austin Findlen and Alex Ezzy. Fort Fairfield’s Dawson Watson shot well from the field for Fort Fairfield scoring eight points, while Dylan Dufour hit for six.
    Caribou’s Findlen was high scorer with 15 points. Parker Deprey netted 12 and Alex Bouchard chipped in with six.
    The Caribou girls won its first contest of the season against Fort Fairfield that same day.  Caribou led 15-2 after the first quarter and cruised to the win.  Defensively, Caribou created numerous steals that led to many scoring opportunities.
    Riley McNeal worked hard and tore down some big offensive and defensive rebounds. Leading the Viking offense was Alexis Rodriguez, who tallied 14 points. Madison Stratton and Kaylyn Krul each added eight, followed by Kassie Krul with six.
    Fort Fairfield was paced by Brenna LeVasseur’s six points.
