WOODLAND — A mother and daughter are homeless after an early-morning fire swept through and destroyed their home on Monday.

At a little after 6 a.m., the Caribou Fire Department received a call about a structure fire at 413 Colby Siding Rd. in Woodland. When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
The residents of the home reported the electricity had gone out and after it was reset, smoke began billowing out of a bedroom wall. The mother and daughter and two dogs were able to make it out of the home safely before the fire spread.
It was reported that there was hay in the old refurbished farmhouse’s attic, which may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. The house is a total loss. No further details were available at press time.
The Red Cross has contacted the family to provide help if needed.
