AR Sandy St PeterAmerican Flag ColorCARIBOU – Sandy C. St. Peter, 89, died January 12, 2013 at Bangor with his family by his side. He was born in Caswell, December 18, 1923, the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Labreck) St. Peter.

Mr. St. Peter served with the US Navy during World War II. He was among the last of the survivors of the Normandy invasion on Omaha Beach. He was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW and the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion.

Mr. St. Peter  was employed by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for many years, retiring in 1995 as an engineer. Maintaining an interest in the world around him, even in his later years, he enjoyed sports, politics and especially the world of nature. For 58 years, he truly enjoyed his camp at Cross Lake, a camp that he built from the ground up.

Surviving in addition to his wife of over 65 years, Evelyn (Michaud) St. Peter of Caribou, are his children, Sandy St. Peter and his wife, Patricia, of Middleburg, Fl., Craig St. Peter of Anchorage, Alaska, Kim Gahagan and husband, Fred, of Caribou, and Carol Conley and Theresa O’Neil both of Danielson, CT; one sister, Edwina Blackford of Connecticut; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. St. Peter was predeceased by eight siblings and a grandson.
