CARIBOU — The North Lakes Fire & Rescue Department was recently awarded a grant from the State of Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry, representing a 50/50 match for equipment totaling $5,414.80. This equipment will assist NLFD with wildland/urban interface protection for the department’s coverage area of Sinclair, Cross Lake and Madawaska Lake.

The equipment that will be purchased will be a 1.75-inch hose, portable radios, a portable water pump and accessories, and utility nozzles.

“Without the help provided from this grant, our department would not have been able to make these purchases,” advised NLFD Chief Darren Woods. “We are very grateful for the support we receive from the Maine Forest Service.”
